Giant Robot Issue 56

So I did an illustration for one of my favorite magazines Giant Robot.
I've been a fan of the mag for a while now. Its always a great empowering voice of us Asian Americans among other groups.

The illustration was for an article about Bamboo and how its infiltrating all walks of life. The article itself reminds me of when my father in law cut down some bamboo in his yard in Chiba and made plates and sake cups, even a sake pouring carafe.

He just took a saw and cut down a couple stalks, and I helped him sand the cups. Its as green as you can get, but the only problem with using bamboo was that the bamboo cups would get dirty as it decomposed after a while, so its essentially on a time limit unless there is a way to dry them out and seal them.

So without further stalling here is the illustration below.

Also it was the first time I had made it a priority to pull some ad space out for Enfu. Coincidentally its debut is in the same issue that I did the above illustration.
