Giving Linocuts a try

So after attending Rei Morimura's woodblock demo at the Azuma Gallery, I felt like I was able to give linocuts a shot. Instead of making another official Enfu product, I decided it was best to test the technique on a drawing I've already done.

I found trying to transfer the image using a t-shirt transfer was not the way to go. It didn't transfer the image onto the easycut mat like I wanted it to. I think next time I should simply transfer it using acrylic medium gloss.

I also cut the other two colors and made a poor atempt at doing a test 3 color linocut but my registration was totally off. Learned the lesson of needing to register all 3 images correctly. I wasn't able to do so because my transfer technique was so horrible to begin with. Oh well at least the one color looked okay.

I also should try this with oil based ink because I hear it just transfers better and the colors are more vibrant. Using water based acrylic ink gave me a low qualtiy transfer.

Also my selection of paper was a good toothed penny bond paper. I'll try it with Kozo paper next time.
